Week 4 Internship Update
This past week has been quite interesting. I have been getting better at identifying bones, their names, location, starting to be able to identify the species it belongs to more quickly. I have spent most of this past week identifying bones from a site, where the bones where the left overs of what a tribe was eating, from around 5,000 years ago. This Friday we will be traveling out to the site of Thomas Farm, where will get to see and work at the dig site from which we receive the bags that we are screen washing. That should be fun!

The thought of looking through and classifying fossils is really intriguing. Especially from over 5,000 years ago! It sounds like you are having an awesome time with your internship! Recently with my position I have been working an a virtual "anatomy table" and when I'm not performing a presentation I have the skeletal system on screen, constantly studying the bones, so I'm in a similar boat with you as far as identifying the bones. Can't wait to hear more about your internship and your trip to Thomas Farm! Are you and Keith working at the same location? I realized that you both are going to Thomas Farm this week.

Hi Jacob, yes me and Keith both work with Sharon, and she is taking us to the location this week. Good luck learning the bones as well, there's so many right?
DeleteWow, that sounds really neat! All the animals I work with are alive, which is good and bad. I think that the fossil site should be really interesting. I have always wanted to do that!
ReplyDeleteKatherine, it would be fun to work with live animal, just for the unpredictability that exists. But like you said, I guess that could be good or bad lol
